Living the Question: What if your story = ART, and your Medicine to share with humanity?

As a child, I remember lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, overwhelmed by questions I couldn’t answer: Why am I here? What is all of this for? What is the meaning of life? These questions became companions in moments of stillness and frustration. Today, they remain, though now I see them not as obstacles but as invitations.

Living the Question: Making Medicine from Our Stories

These questions I carried as a child—questions I once thought were burdens—have become my teachers. They’re now the medicine I offer others, reminding me and those around me that every story, even the unfinished ones, has value.

What if every frustration, every unanswered question, every struggle could be transformed into something meaningful—a kind of medicine for not only the soul but also the human spirit?

I believe our stories, even those that feel uncomfortable or unresolved, are powerful teachers. By learning to make medicine from our experiences, we start to see ourselves as creators—not only of art or beauty but of healing, resilience, and connection.

“Making medicine” is a journey of alchemy, transforming life’s raw, unpolished moments into a source of wisdom and belonging.

I believe that true belonging comes not from rigid answers but from a deep-rooted sense of connection—to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural world around us. This is where we find grounding, purpose, and ultimately, our sense of belonging. Here’s how we can each reconnect with that childlike wonder, that little voice inside that yearns to explore:

  1. Reconnect with Nature
Nature has a way of bringing us back to ourselves. The colors of a sunset, the rustling of leaves, the scent of the earth after rain—all reminders of life’s beauty and complexity. In these moments, we’re invited to be fully present, letting nature’s rhythms remind us of our place in the grand scheme.

  2. Feel the Pleasure of Aliveness
Our bodies are the vessels through which we experience the world. Movement, stillness, breath, and sensation all serve as pathways to connect more deeply with ourselves. When we tap into this, we aren’t just surviving; we are fully alive, immersed in the sensory beauty of existence. Allow yourself time to feel, move, and rest.

  3. Find Joy in Creation
Creation is at the heart of life. Whether through art, nurturing relationships, or simply cultivating a meaningful day, creating breathes life into us. It allows us to channel our essence outward, making something beautiful, even if just for ourselves.

  4. Embrace the Mystery
Maybe the answers to the biggest questions are meant to remain mysteries, so we continue to explore, grow, and wonder. Embracing mystery allows us to find beauty in the unknown, letting the journey unfold in its own way.

For those of us who carry that little child inside, always asking, always seeking: remember that life itself is the answer. By reconnecting with nature, feeling the aliveness in our bodies, creating from the heart, and embracing mystery, we live the question. And perhaps that’s where we find the belonging we seek—a belonging that grows from within and expands outward.

I believe that each of us can find beauty, purpose, and connection by reconnecting with these simple, profound experiences. I invite you to walk this journey with me, one day at a time.
